Ian began working for the UK Government in 1986, initially with the Ministry of Defence and then the Ministry of Agriculture (MAFF), which later became Defra. Ian began developing websites in 1995, hand-coding pages and moved fully into IT in 1997. Ian developed the first database-driven website for Defra in 2001, a technology that has become commonplace now, allowing a large amount of data to be updated on a website without a single web page having to be edited. Systems such as this are now commonly referred to as "Content Management Systems" or "CMS". Outsourced to IBM in 2004, Ian rapidly proved himself in the areas of Team Management and then Service Delivery Management and successfully completed the internal IBM ITIL v3 training and also the 2-year Leadership and Management programme. Ian also has exceptional "soft skills", which are particularly useful when managing diverse teams or in the area of customer relations and problem management. Ian is able to manage customer expectations against business goals to an exceptionally high standard. Noted Areas of Expertise
